10 questions to ask before choosing
a supplement or cosmetics OEM factory
Choosing the wrong factory can cost money, time and your launch window. Here are the 10 questions brand owners ask the Mark Bio team most often, with straight answers and what a good factory should tell you.

Before choosing a supplement or cosmetics OEM factory, ask about 10 things: minimum order (MOQ) and budget, lead time, Thai FDA registration, exclusive formula development, innovations that create a selling point, ingredient origin and COA, co-branding with ingredient names or logos, factory standards and export, packaging and labelling, and formula confidentiality. At Mark Bio Technology the MOQ is 5,000 units per formula, production takes about 30–60 days, an RA team handles Thai FDA work, and formulas developed for your brand belong to you, with an NDA signed before work starts.
1. What is the MOQ, and how much budget do I need to start?
Mark Bio's answer: the minimum order starts at 5,000 units per formula for supplements, skincare, makeup and hair and body products.
The real budget depends on five things: the formula and ingredients, the format (for example a regular capsule versus a Double Capsule), packaging, quantity and Thai FDA registration. Brand owners should also keep part of the budget for marketing and launch, not spend it all on production.
What a good factory should tell you: an itemised quotation, plus advice on what to adjust to fit your budget. Use the estimator on our home page or message LINE @markbio for a free first price.
2. How long from formulation to sellable product?
Mark Bio's answer: production takes about 30–60 days depending on format and packaging. Formulation, sampling and Thai FDA registration depend on the formula's complexity and product type.
You get a step-by-step timeline on day one, so you can plan your launch date, presenter and ad campaigns in advance.
Tip: a clear brief (customers, selling point, budget) and quick sample approval are the two things that save the most time.
3. Does the factory handle Thai FDA registration and cosmetic notification?
Mark Bio's answer: yes, end to end. Our Regulatory Affairs (RA) team prepares and files the documents.
- Supplements: a 13-digit food serial number.
- Cosmetics: Thai FDA notification with a 10-digit number.
The RA team also checks labels and assesses the formula early, so you don't spend time developing something that can't be registered.
4. Can you develop an exclusive formula, or only standard ones?
Mark Bio's answer: both.
- ODM: our supplement and cosmetic R&D teams develop a new formula to your brief and refine samples until you're happy.
- OEM: if you already have a formula, the team checks it can be produced and meets Thai FDA rules before sampling.
An exclusive formula keeps you out of price wars because competitors can't buy the same one. Mark Bio's PhD-level executives oversee formulation with the R&D team.
5. Which innovations or formats help create a selling point?
Mark Bio's answer: specialty formats made in our own factory, such as:
- Double Capsule (capsule-in-capsule): two actives apart in one dose, a clear 2-in-1 story.
- Liquid Capsule: uses liquid extracts directly.
- Jelly sticks and gummies: easy, no water needed.
- Innovative ingredients: such as Magnesium Acetyl Taurate, for which Mark Bio is Thailand's First Pioneer.
These formats photograph and film well, helping a new brand stand out from day one.
6. Where do ingredients come from, and is there a COA?
Mark Bio's answer: we import directly from makers in Japan, Italy, Spain, Korea, France, Switzerland, Poland and Taiwan — for example Wellnex Collagen (Nitta Gelatin) and Oryza Ceramide from Japan, Red Orange Complex (Bionap) from Italy and Pomanox (Euromed) from Spain.
Every incoming lot comes with a COA and is checked before entering stock. Finished goods are release-tested with a COA and are traceable to raw materials, so you can use the ingredient origin in marketing with confidence.
7. Can I put the ingredient brand name or logo (co-branding) on my pack?
Mark Bio's answer: yes. For ingredients covered by Mark Bio's co-branding agreements with their makers, client brands can use the ingredient name and logo on pack, adding international credibility.
Mark Bio received 38 awards from global ingredient makers in 2024–2025, and Top User No.1 in Thailand 2026 for Wellnex Collagen and Oryza Ceramide. The team explains each ingredient's logo terms.
8. Which standards does the factory hold, and can it support export?
Mark Bio's answer:
- Supplements (Mark Biotechnology Co., Ltd.): ISO 22000:2018, HACCP, GHP, HALAL and a Thai FDA Certificate of Manufacturer.
- Cosmetics (Mark Bio Laboratory Co., Ltd.): GMP and ISO 22716:2007.
For export we provide a Certificate of Free Sale, plus testing such as SPF at an international lab, dermatological testing, nutrition analysis and microbiology at an ISO 17025 lab. See all Mark Bio standards.
9. Do you offer packaging, design and compliant labelling as a one-stop service?
Mark Bio's answer: yes. Our design team handles logo, label, box and bottle in one place, and the RA team checks labels against Thai FDA rules — no separate designer or box maker needed.
Mark Bio's 15 one-stop services also include product development consulting, warehousing and dispatch, product training and after-sales service.
10. Is my formula confidential, and who owns it?
Mark Bio's answer: a formula developed for your brand belongs to you, and Mark Bio signs a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before work starts.
What to check in the contract: the scope of confidential information, formula ownership and terms for future use. Ask the team any contract questions before signing.
